Comparative Analysis
SB 1070
A.
SB 1070 is a legislative act in the U.S. state of Arizona that is the
broadest and strictest anti-illegal immigration measure in decades.
B.
There was many campaigns going against the SB 1070 to give “ brown
people” a chance to provide for their families (specifically in Arizona).
C.
The act makes it a state misdemeanor crime for an alien to be in Arizona
without carrying registration documents required by federal law, authorizes
state and local law enforcement of federal immigration laws, and cracks down on
those sheltering, hiring and transporting illegal aliens.
HB 2281
•
HB 2281 prohibits schools from offering courses at any grade level that
advocate ethnic solidarity, promote overthrow of the US government, or cater to
specific ethnic groups—regulations which will dismantle the state's popular
Mexican-American studies programs.
•
This affects the students in Arizona more than the students in the Bay
Area but it is a close comparative analysis.
